looking up
On a particularly sad and dreary day I reminded myself that it’s impossible to feel low when one is looking up for a sustained period of time. So I wandered around Eastbourne, looking up. Here’s some of what I saw.
portrait of a girl in 2020
Challenging myself to work figuratively, stitching portraits is right at the top of the challenge pole. Interesting how COVID pops up time and again in my work.
a hill of beans
A task in Christine Chesters’ stitch experiments class: creating curved lines, using only straight ones.
untamed
I love raffia, its texture and its unruly naturel. A flower ribbon triggered this experiment.
Amulets for Anthony
A 60th birthday present for Anthony, my friend from Uganda. Amulet pouches made from Ugandan bark cloth (which has world heritage status), each containing a pebble or shell from Eastbourne beach. 6 little ones for every decade of Anthony’s life so far, and the big one, with my favourite, perfect pebble for a long & fulfilling life to come. The basket is made from sea grass and waxed cotton.
